This recognition will honor the teachers that "inspire, rejuvenate, and celebrate the teaching profession."
(Indianapolis, Ind.) – In response to these abnormal time, the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) is honoring educators across the state.
Traditionally, one educator is recognized as teacher of the year. Today IDOE recognized all Indiana teachers as the 2021 Teach of the Year.
“The COVID-19 pandemic brought new complexities and challenges to schools with no advance warning,” said State Superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick. “Teachers across our state have displayed a level of flexibility and commitment, underscoring the fact Hoosiers really are #INthisTogether.”
The Teacher of the Year program has recognized outstanding classroom teachers for over 60 years.
The program’s mission is to "inspire, rejuvenate, and celebrate the teaching profession."
While in this nontraditional time, IDOE has used this opportunity to recognize all of the dedicated educators that serve the 1.2 million students. The traditional process will resume in 2022.
