The online survey will assess business perceptions, attitudes, knowledge and current practices related to substance abuse and prevention in the workplace.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - The Indiana Chamber, Wellness Council of Indiana and state officials are encouraging employers of all sizes and types of business to take the anonymous Indiana Workplace Substance Use & Recovery Survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WorkplaceSubstanceUse) .

The online survey will assess business perceptions, attitudes, knowledge and current practices related to substance abuse and prevention in the workplace.

In February, the Indiana Chamber and the Wellness Council of Indiana announced the Indiana Workforce Recovery initiative, a strategic partnership with Gov. Eric Holcomb and his administration to combat the opioid epidemic.

“We cannot emphasize enough the importance of business community participation in this survey,” says Indiana Chamber President and CEO Kevin Brinegar. “A thorough understanding of employer attitudes and impacts is required to provide the best possible assistance. This is a workforce, business and employee health priority for the Chamber and the Wellness Council of Indiana.”

Among the information sought in the survey: the perceived prevalence and impact of substance abuse on the workforce; the extent that components of a drug-free workplace program are being administered; frequency of job seekers and employees testing positive for drugs; attitudes and practices around second chances for those who test positive; knowledge of available resources; and attitudes about substance abuse prevention and treatment.

The survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and is open through December.

Brinegar says the final survey data will be supplemented with secondary research to guide the effort to develop a strong, drug-free workforce in Indiana.
