(Wilmington, Oh.) – Would you like to train to become a storm spotter?

There will be multiple opportunities to do so over the next few months.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington will hold free spotter training classes throughout the tri-state, starting today.

Each class lasts about two hours and is led by a National Weather Service meteorologist, who will discuss techniques and safety for severe weather spotting.

Once you attend a class, you will receive instructions for registering to officially become a trained spotter, and start reporting severe weather to your NWS office.

Local training classes have been scheduled for:

  • Thursday, March 2 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Boone County Emergency Management, 3000 Conrad Ln, Burlington, KY 41005.
  • Monday, April 3 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Batesville Fire and Rescue, 115 E. Catherine Street, Batesville, IN 47006.

Three virtual classes have been scheduled for February 22, March 7, and May 2.
