ICJI Grants $500K to Domestic Violence Shelters

Safe Passage, Inc. is among the grant recipients.

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Criminal Justice Institute (ICJI) recently awarded $500,000 in grant funding to 25 nonprofits to provide emergency shelter and services to victims of domestic violence and their dependents.

The funding was provided by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services through the Social Services Block Grant program.

Locally, Safe Passage, Inc. was awarded $20,000.

This year, organizations will use the grant funding to provide items like food, clothing, transportation, and shelter to survivors in crisis.

The goal of the program is to help offset the cost of certain operational expenses, so that other funding may be used to provide support services.
