(Batesville, Ind.) - Motorists who use the on- and off-ramps on Interstate 74 Westbound in Batesville will need to make some adjustments for the next couple weeks.

The $61 million highway reconstruction project continues on I-74 through Ripley, Franklin and Decatur counties. It has had much of the highway down to one lane for the better part of the last two years.

The latest restriction associated with the highway project is the closure of the ramps to and from I-74 Westbound at the State Road 229 Batesville exit. They will close at midnight Wednesday, July 10 and remain closed for approximately 15 days. The I-74 Westbound ramps are expected to reopen by July 24.

During that time, road crews with state contractor Milestone Contractors will be milling and repaving the on- and off-ramps.

Meanwhile, people who usually access I-74 Westbound from Batesville will have to detour to the ramps at either Sunman or New Point.

The ramps to and from I-74 Eastbound at Batesville won’t be affected, according to INDOT.

At least the three-year I-74 project is nearing an end. INDOT says the highway reconstruction should be completed by late October.
