House Bill 1130 Would Require Public Comment Be Allowed at School Board Meetings

The bill has moved to the House floor.

INDIANAPOLIS – School boards could soon be required to allow public comment at meetings.

House Bill 1130 unanimously passed the House government and regulatory reform committee on Wednesday.

The legislation would require a governing body of a state or local public agency to allow members of the public to provide oral public comment at a public meeting.

The bill does allow school boards to remove intentionally disruptive persons to maintain order at meetings.

House Bill 1130 now moves to the House floor for consideration.
