(Harrison, Oh.) – The City of Harrison will sign a formal Sister City Agreement next weekend.

City officials are preparing to welcome representatives from Meckesheim, Germany during the Fall Food Truck Rally.

Harrison Mayor Bill Neyer will be joined by Meckesheim’s Mayor Maik Brandt on Saturday, September 9 at 5:15 p.m. The ceremony will take place on the stage in front of the Harrison Police Department.

Aside from signing the formal Sister City Agreement, the two mayors will share remarks, and help judge a Porsche competition as members of the Ohio Valley Region Porsche Club of America will line the streets of Harrison’s downtown district.

Other festivities include music by Bavarian band, Die Bubis, and a ceremonial keg tapping for a commemorative beer created by Schumi’s MeckseBrau brewery in Meckesheim, Germany and Northern Row Brewery in Cincinnati.

Harrison’s Sister City relationship with Meckesheim was established in 2019 for the sharing of cultural, commercial, and social attributes between the communities.

In 2022, the Harrison Mayor’s Community Fund initiated a special fund to assist its sister city with the purchase of a new fire brigade vehicle that was used to transport Ukrainians refugees through Poland and back to Meckesheim.
