Deputies say the vehicle was traveling on North Dearborn Road at speeds near 85 MPH.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - A Harrison man has been charged after fleeing the scene of a crash in Dearborn County.

Colt Wrangler Combs, 18, was arrested on June 1 and charged with Obstruction of Justice (level 6 felony).

According to Dearborn County Sheriff's deputies, Combs was traveling eastbound on North Dearborn Road at approximately 4:21 a.m. when his vehicle crashed into a utility pole near the intersection with State Road 1.

Following the crash, a passenger in Combs' vehicle was picked up by a passerby. The woman told deputies Combs was traveling at speeds near 85 MPH prior to the crash.

Deputies eventually located Combs' vehicle on the entrance ramp to Interstate 74 westbound near the 164 mile marker. The vehicle was covered in mud and had damage to the front end and driver's side.

Combs was located the same day of the crash at a home on the 7000 block of E. State Road 48, where he was taken into custody.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Combs told deputies that the he was not driving at the time of the crash, but that he did drive the vehicle to I-74 until it ran out of gas. Combs also allegedly told deputies he didn't know he should have called police after the accident.

Combs is currently held in the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on $500 cash bond.
