Hanover Sees Applications Soar

Hanover College campus

(Hanover, Ind.) – Hanover College has received more than 2,200 applications for next year, a record number with still months for students to apply.

The private liberal arts college near Madison, Indiana has just over 1,000 undergraduates, but has seen 2,232 freshman applications as of November 7, according to a news release. The figure is up 22 percent from last year at the same date.

The 2010 applications eventually set a record of 3,099. Of those, over 330 students became Hanover freshmen.

The applications to date have doubled what Hanover received by November 7 three years ago.

There has been a boom in the number of applicants from Kentucky, where 54 percent more applications have flowed into the admissions office. Indiana applications are up 16 percent while Ohio applicants have increased four percent.

Foreign students have also contributed to the increase with a 158 percent rise in the number of applicants from outside the United States.

Dean of Admissions Chris Gage cites two reasons for the increased interest in Hanover College, (1) the school’s innovative marketing outreach efforts within Hanover’s primary recruitment area, and (2) redesigned marketing materials that present a better and more concise message to parents, prospective students and guidance counselors.

The regular admissions deadline at Hannover College is March 1, 2012.
