Hamilton County Sheriff: Township Patrols Will Continue In '19

(Hamilton County, Oh.) - The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says regular patrols will be maintained next year in Whitewater, Harrison, and Crosby townships.

This despite a $5.5 million cut to the sheriff’s office’s budget, which is part of the 2019 county budget approved Wednesday by county commissioners.

Eagle Country 99.3 and other media outlets reported that regular patrols in the three western townships would be eliminated in 2019. However, Sheriff Jim Neil’s office said in a news release Thursday that the patrols in those townships.

“Sheriff Jim Neil will continue to provide police patrols to those townships who do not have the ability to pay for these services,” the release stated.

Neil said while the county commissioners set the sheriff’s budget, it is his responsibility to determine how those funds are utilized to ensure all residents of Hamilton County are safe.
