Group Home Supervisor Accused of Check Fraud

Pamela Bovard

(Rising Sun, Ind.) - A woman who was trusted with caring for mentally handicapped people at a local group home is accused of stealing money from a resident.

Pamela J. Bovard, of Dillsboro, was a site supervisor at the ResCare, Inc. Rising Sun House.

Indiana State Police began their investigation on February 1. They allege that Bovard took a handicapped resident’s checks.

Bovard, 36, allegedly forged the residents’ signature on one check in order to buy cigarettes and alcohol from a liquor store in Dillsboro.

When questioned, Bovard told investigators she did nothing wrong. However, a representative for ResCare said the handicapped resident  - who does not drink or smoke - never received the items Bovard purchased.

A warrant for Bovard’s arrest was issued February 29. She was arrested Saturday on charges of Forgery (Class C felony) and Identity Deception (Class D felony).

Family members of the victims say Bovard has been fired from ResCare.
