(Greendale, Ind.) - Motorists are being reminded to slow down and be prepared to stop when approaching a crosswalk.
In a Facebook post, Greendale Police have reported many close calls at the MGP crosswalk as employees are trying to get across the roadway to work.
According to the most recent data, a pedestrian is injured every seven minutes walking near traffic.
Motorists are to yield to pedestrians in crosswalks and stop well back from the area to give other vehicles an opportunity to see the crossing pedestrians so they can stop too. In addition, motorists should never pass vehicles stopped at a crosswalk.
