Greendale About To Light The Fuse On July 4th Celebration

A 5K, fishing derby, bike parade, and fireworks show are Independence Day traditions in Greendale.

(Greendale, Ind.) - Greendale is gearing up for a host of activities the city holds each Fourth of July.

The Greendale Fourth of July 5K will start the day off at 8:00 a.m. A tradition for many area families each Independence Day, the race benefits Voices of Indiana, a local singing and vocal group for young people.

A series of streets will be closed for the 5K race. Those streets include:

  • Nowlin Avenue to Mary Avenue
  • Mary Street o Ludlow Street
  • Ludlow Street to Cook Avenue
  • Cook Avenue to Nowlin Avenue
  • Nowlin Avenue to Cora Avenue
  • Cora Avenue to Carroll Avenue
  • Carroll Avenue to Miller Avenue
  • Miller Avenue to Haag Avenue

Other holiday events in Greendale include the kids fishing derby at Schnebelt Pond starting at 9:00 a.m. A golf cart parade and kids bike parade will begin at Oakey Park at 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m., respectively.

The big fireworks show presented by Civista will launch at dusk at Greendale Park. You can enjoy live music and vendors before the show.
