The first event will take place this Saturday at Miami Whitewater Forest Harbor.
(Hamilton County, Oh.) – Great Parks is renewing its electronics waste recycling team-up with Cohen Recycling through a series of three collection events coming to different parks over three months.
Collecting e-waste at these events will divert toxic materials such as heavy metals away from landfills, from which they can find their way into watersheds and wildlife areas.
The upcoming e-waste recycling events are scheduled for 9:00 AM to noon on the following Saturdays:
- September 7 at Miami Whitewater Forest Harbor
- October 12 at Woodland Mound
- November 2 at Winton Woods Harbor
E-waste from outdated computers and cell phones is a quickly growing concern worldwide. There is no maximum number of items a person can drop off. Devices with a cathode ray tube, such as old televisions and flat screen TVs, require a $10 fee.
The full list of materials that will be accepted is available on the Cohen website, and includes:
- Any item with a cord or that takes a cord
- Computers
- Cell phones
- DVD players
- Video game systems
- Telephones
- Remote controls
- Batteries
- Laptops
- Tablets
- Fax machines
- Keyboards
- Microwaves
- and many other items not listed here.
Light bulbs, wood, paper, cardboard, refrigerators and freezers will not be accepted.
