(Rising Sun, Ind.) - The Ohio County Community Foundation received a technology grant on behalf of the Education Center of Rising Sun from MHS Serves in the amount of $49,500.

They are working to bridge the digital divide, with funding and capacity-building support from Managed Health Services-MHS and MHS Serves. The funding has provided new computers/screens to the Education Center as well as a “smart board” to use for presentations and teaching.

The Education Center has also obtained software through Teknimedia which provides seventeen different basic computer skills, keyboarding, internet & email courses, and Microsoft office courses. These courses are great for all age groups. The courses are designed for e-learning or in-class learning. Debbie Thomason, Director of the Education Center stated, “I am excited to be able to provide this learning to senior citizens, those looking to enter the employment field or those who need to sharpen up their computer skills. This is an exciting opportunity for our small rural county to have these courses available in Rising Sun.”

If you are interested in sharpening your computer skills or simply learning for the first time, please visit the Education Center of Rising Sun, 591 Smart Drive, Rising Sun, Indiana or call 812-438-2437. All individuals who complete courses will receive a “certificate of achievement.”
