Gov. DeWine Signs Sports Betting Bill into Law

Ohioans will be able to place sports wagers prior to January 1, 2023.

(Columbus, Oh.) – Sports gaming has made its way to Ohio.

Governor Mike DeWine on Wednesday signed House Bill 29 into law, which allows Ohioans to legally place sports bets.

Sports betting will be utilized under the regulatory authority of the Ohio Casino Control Commission and the Ohio Lottery.

There will be three ways to bet on sports, including mobile wagering, casinos and racinos and bars and restaurants with gaming kiosks.

Sports betting is expected to start prior to January 1, 2023.

Revenues from sports betting will be subject to a 10 percent tax with proceeds going towards K-12 schools.
