(Batesville, Ind.) - Batesville native Austin Glaub has been tapped as the new assistant principal at Batesville Middle School (BMS). Glaub, a 2014 Batesville High School graduate, will return to his hometown school system after teaching social studies and serving in various leadership capacities at Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation in Columbus, IN, for the past seven years.

After graduating from BHS, Glaub attended Ball State University, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in social studies teaching and history and his Master’s degree in educational administration and supervision. His teaching experience includes developing and implementing a middle school history curriculum for 150 students, as well as teaching three virtual high school courses over the summer. His leadership background includes serving as the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports Committee Chair for three years and assisting two different principals as an intern, gaining valuable field experience.

“I’m excited to welcome Austin Glaub to our team,” said Dave Strouse, BMS principal. “His past work with students from all kinds of backgrounds makes him a great fit to continue the collaborative environment we’ve established at our school.”

“BMS is an incredibly special place to me,” Glaub said. “It nurtured my love of learning as a student, was the site of my first job as a custodian, and provided some of my first classroom experience as a substitute teacher. It's a privilege to be called to serve the community that has given me so much. I'm excited to get to work.”

Glaub currently lives in Columbus but plans to relocate to the Batesville area in the future, where his parents and brothers reside. He looks forward to meeting students and parents at the BMS back-to-school night on Monday, August 4, from 5:30 to 7 PM
