Frye recognized 69 volunteer firefighters who have devoted at least 50 years to protecting Hoosiers.

(Indianapolis, Ind.) - State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) recently honored Indiana volunteer firefighters with a resolution at the Indiana Statehouse who have served their communities for 50 years or more.

Frye recognized 69 volunteer firefighters who have devoted at least 50 years to protecting Hoosiers. Collectively, they have served their communities for more than 3,450 years.

“The volunteer fire service is the best bargain in Indiana, and is the backbone for emergency services across our state,” Frye said. “I learned in the fire academy the greatest resource on the fire ground is manpower. The second greatest resource is experienced manpower. These are the best Indiana has to offer.”

According to Frye, there are more than 800 volunteer fire and rescue departments across Indiana to helping protect Hoosiers from fires, floods and other natural disasters. These brave volunteers also respond to car crashes, medical emergencies and provide fire protection.

“We would like to thank the Indiana House for honoring these 69 individuals who have taken a lot of time and effort into bettering their community to make their neighborhoods a safer place,” said Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association President David Israel.
