(Friendship, Ind.) - Disaster was avoided Sunday thanks in part to the work of the Friendship Volunteer Fire Department.

A 500 gallon liquid propane tank was struck by a lawnmower on the 5000 block of State Road 62 at about 9:30 p.m. The large tank rolled down an embankment and came to a rest on its top.

Because the tank came to a rest on it's top, the valve and torn line from which gas was leaking was obstructed. Firefighters applied a fog stream until an emergency team from Laughery Valley Ag Co-Op arrived to upright the tank and close the valve.

Nobody was injured and there was no significant damage.

"If you use LP, do you know the emergency number for your supplier for emergencies such as this? This is a good reminder to double check," the fire department suggests.
