(Wilmington, Oh.) - Residents in the tri-state area are encouraged to protect sensitive vegetation and outdoor plumbing.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Freeze Warning for the tri-state area from 10:00 p.m. on Monday to 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

Sub-freezing temperatures are expected overnight with a low of 30 degrees.

Frost and freeze conditions will kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those that have
in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
