(Brookville, Ind.) – The days of football games being played on natural grass are numbered at Franklin County High School.

This week, the Franklin County School Board voted 7-0 to approve the purchase and installation of a multi-use turf football field.

According to Superintendent Tammy Chavis, the field will be used by football, soccer, baseball, softball, dance, band, and youth programs.

Franklin County will join a list of several other area schools that already have turf fields, including East Central, Lawrenceburg, South Dearborn, Batesville, and Milan.

Other facility improvements are also on the table. Chavis explained that the high school chiller needs to be replaced. Cost is estimated at $450,000.

Improvements to roof sections at the high and middle schools are also being considered.
