Sentencing was handed down on Thursday.
(Florence, Ky.) – A Florence man has been sentenced for distributing heroin and cocaine.
Donald Conway, 42, was sentenced Thursday to 16 years in federal prison for possession of heroin and cocaine with the intent to distribute the drugs.
Conway was convicted in August after he was arrested during a traffic stop in Covington. During the stop, police say Conway was in possession of more than 25 grams of cocaine and more than 23 grams of heroin.
Based upon prior felony convictions of assault and drug trafficking, Conway qualified as a “career offender” under the United State Sentencing Guidelines, which subjected him to an increased sentence.
Another northern Kentucky resident was sentenced last month for distributing methamphetamine.
Michael Hager, of Covington, was arrested in March for allegedly possessing approximately eight ounces of methamphetamine and a loaded firearm. He was sentenced last month to 12 years behind bars.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office Eastern District of Kentucky, Hager was a distributor for Jamel Clay, of Louisville.
Clay was arrested himself this past March when he was found in possession of approximately 15 ounces of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to eight years in federal prison in November.
