(Kenton County, Ky.) – A Florence man is charged with Manslaughter after the shooting death of Alyssa Murry.

Murray was killed by a gunshot on December 6 at a home on Anderson Road in Crescent Springs.

Villa Hills Police responded to the incident shortly before midnight when they located Murry’s body. Investigators believe her boyfriend, Moustapha Ibra Ka, 23, fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Ka turned himself into the Kenton County Police Department on December 13 after being at-large for the last week.

He was charged today with Second Degree Manslaughter, Tampering With Physical Evidence, and Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon.

Commonwealth’s Attorney Rob Sanders said the Manslaughter 2nd Degree charge reflects that the available proof indicates the shooting of Murray was not intentional.

So far, there is nothing to suggest the couple wasn't getting along. Detectives even discovered their suspect purchased an engagement or promise ring for the victim earlier in the day and had hidden it with the intention of giving it to her at Christmas," said Sanders. "This is the fourth homicide case since 2017 where a defendant killed a friend or loved one while handling guns when drugs were present," Sanders said. "This suspect stayed on the run for a week so we do not have a blood sample but marijuana was in plain view when officers entered the residence," said Sanders. "Unlike the other cases, however, this suspect has multiple prior felonies and never should have had a gun in the first place," Sanders said.

Sanders added that Kenton County Police continue to investigate. Detectives are looking for Ka’s 2006 Honda Pilot, which is black or dark blue and has a KY license plate #AXB971. The vehicle is believed to be abandoned somewhere in Cincinnati.

Additional charges are possible when the case goes before a grand jury.

If convicted, Ka faces up to 20 years in prison.
