Flash Flood Warning Thursday Afternoon

Be aware of flooding occurring Thursday afternoon.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Flash Flood Warning has been signaled Thursday in Dearborn, Franklin and Ripley counties.

The warning went into effect at 1:00 p.m. and will remain in effect until 6:00 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, radar estimates show around one-inch of rainfall came down in the morning. Another one to 1 ½ inches could fall in the afternoon.

Ongoing heavy rainfall has led to flooding of many creeks and streams.

Roads are also being effected across the region. The westbound lanes of U.S. 50 between Wilson Creek Road and Sunnyside Avenue are covered by water. Kaiser Drive at the hill bottom and East Laughery Creek Road at Shiloh Lane in Dearborn County are closed as of Thursday afternoon.

Franklin County Dispatch says many roads are impassable due to high water and debris. They include St. Mary's Rd east of Levee Road and U.S. 52 between Cummins and Yellow Bank roads.

A Flood Watch has been in effect since Wednesday and will remain in place until 7:00 a.m. Friday.
