COLUMBUS – The Ohio Department of Commerce Division of Cannabis Control (DCC) will issue its first set of dual-use Certificates of Operation (COO) to 98 eligible dispensaries across the state today.
This comes more than a month in advance of the September 7 deadline outlined in the initiated statute passed by Ohio voters in November 2023.
Once an entity has received its COO, it is legally authorized to begin the sale of non-medical cannabis in addition to medical cannabis. However, the issuance of COOs does not necessarily mean non-medical sales will begin immediately at every dispensary, as each licensee must determine when they will start sales based on factors including staffing, stock and other business considerations.
The issuance of COOs is based on roughly the order in which completed applications were received by the Division and when compliance asks were fulfilled.
Locally, Canoe Hill Ohio LLC, Queen City Medical Cannabis on Suspension Bridge Road in Harrison, was listed among the 98 initially eligible dispensaries across Ohio.
