(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – It’s become a popular annual event for a good cause.

The Lawrenceburg Fire Department is partnering with the City of Lawrenceburg and Special Olympics Indiana to host the 8th annual Fire Truck Pull on Saturday, August 17 in the new civic park in downtown Lawrenceburg.

Each year, the event sees teams of 15 or less show off their teamwork and strength by trying to pull a fire truck 50 feet in the shortest amount of time.

More importantly, each team raises a minimum of $500 to benefit Special Olympians residing in Ripley, Ohio and Dearborn counties.

“We’re are very grateful to once again be partnering with the Lawrenceburg Fire Department and the City of Lawrenceburg to bring this fun-filled event to our community,” said event organizer and Program Coordinator for Special Olympics Indiana – Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties, Greg Townsend. “We are also very excited to be holding this event in the new civic park downtown Lawrenceburg,” added Townsend.

Aside from the fire truck pull, there will be a free Kiddie Pull open to children 8 years and under, food and drinks and live music by the Keith Swinney Band.

To register a team, visit www.soindiana-rod.org/ftp or contact Greg Townsend at 812-584-6861.
