Fire Truck Pull: Tigers Football Raises Most Money, City Employees Win Fastest Pull

Thousands of dollars were raised to support local Special Olympians.

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – It was a great turnout for a great cause. 

The annual Fire Truck Pull to benefit Special Olympics Indiana – Ripley Ohio Dearborn Counties took place Saturday in downtown Lawrenceburg.

Teams of 15 or less competed to see who could pull a Lawrenceburg Fire Department ladder truck 50 feet in the shortest amount of time.

The Whiskey City Rope Burners, aka City of Lawrenceburg employees, placed first in the fastest pull challenge with a time of 16.10 seconds. Coming in second was The Fight with a time of 18.28.

South Ripley High School was the winning team in the Lowest Combined Weight Challenge with a combined weight of 1,732 pounds.

The Lawrenceburg Tigers varsity football team placed third in the fastest pull challenge, and raised the most money by a team, raising $2,250. Kane Ferreira raised the most money by a Special Olympian ($1,200), and Ashton Craig raised the most money by an individual ($415).

All proceeds from the event benefit local Special Olympians, so they can train year-round and compete at local, regional, state, national, and international events.
