(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Fiat Classical Academy, the region’s new Catholic, classical high school, hosted 300 guests at the inaugural “Let There Be Light” Gala on April 5.

Despite the gloomy weather outdoors, the Lawrenceburg Event Center was filled with joy and hope as Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky residents gathered to learn more about Fiat Classical Academy’s first year in operation and future plans.

Fr. John Hollowell, pastor in solidum of the Dearborn County Catholic parishes and a member of Fiat’s Board of Directors, articulated what is unique about the school and outlined Fiat’s financial needs. Head of Mission Brad Macke provided an update, filled with anecdotes from the school’s daily life.

A video about the school premiered at the event (available to watch here).

With testimonies from parents, a student and a donor, along with inspiring remarks on the role of beauty in our lives from Jimmy Mitchell, the keynote speaker, attendees were given a partial experience of Fiat Classical Academy’s four pillars of cultivating wonder, encouraging encounter, fostering integration and seeking excellence.

The community showed their overwhelming support through donations given that evening of more than $160,000. Including pre-Gala gifts and a matching gift, Fiat Classical Academy raised approximately $185,000 net. Opportunities to give are still available: https://donorbox.org/let-there-be-light-fiat-classical-academy-gala-2025.

Part of a growing movement of classical, Catholics schools across the nation, Fiat Classical Academy, located in Aurora, opened in August. As an accredited school, eligible families can receive the Choice Scholarship (voucher). Enrollment for 9th-11th grade is open.
