(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A home was destroyed by a fire near Dillsboro on Saturday night.

Firefighters from several area departments were called to the scene on Station Hollow Road at around 10:00 p.m. The family was home at the time, but escaped unharmed, says Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department Chief Tim Heitmeyer.

The two-story home was a total loss.

Heitmeyer said the fire likely began in the home’s garage. It then spread quickly throughout the home because of the wood framing and siding.

A cause has not been determined as of Monday. The Dillsboro Volunteer Fire Department is investigating with assistance from the Indiana State Fire Marshal.
