A new proposal at the Ohio Statehouse would do away with Daylight Savings Time.
(Columbus, Oh.) - The Ohio Senate will soon open debate on a proposal to make daylight saving time permanent.
The Ohio Sunshine Protection Act was unveiled Tuesday by lawmakers who say the twice-yearly time changes have negative effects on drivers and workers.
Senate Bill 119, dubbed the “Ohio Sunshine Protection Act,” is sponsored by state senators Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) and Bob Peterson (R-Washington Courthouse). Green Township, Hamilton County Republican Lou Terhar is a cosponsor.
If passed, Ohio would become the third state to declare itself exempt from springing forward and falling back. The other two are Arizona and Hawaii.
