(INDIANAPOLIS) – Expanded unemployment benefits in Indiana will continue after all.

When Governor Eric Holcomb decided to withdraw Indiana from federal unemployment payments in June, he was met with a lawsuit which ultimately led to a Marion County judge ruling to temporarily reinstate the payments.

On Tuesday, the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled in favor of Gov. Holcomb allowing the state to end the payments since Indiana Code does not require participation in the CARES ACT program.

However, the Indiana Department of Workforce Development said Tuesday that payments will continue because the state must give recipients a 30-day notice that they will stop.

The notice extends past the scheduled September 6 end of the federal unemployment programs.
