(Wilmington, Oh.) – It’s going to be a hot one this week.

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued an Excessive Heat Watch for the tri-state area.

The watch goes into effect on Tuesday from noon to 8:00 p.m.

According to the NWS, dangerously hot conditions (high of 98 degrees) with heat index values up to 109 is possible on Tuesday.

Temperatures and heat index values will remain high on Wednesday and Thursday with daytime highs around 97 and 95, respectively.

Extreme heat and humidity will significantly increase the potential for heat related illnesses, particularly for those working or participating in outdoor activities.

As a reminder, be prepared to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check on relatives and neighbors.

In addition, children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances, especially during warm or hot weather when car interiors can reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
