East Central Middle School Ag Teacher Named Finalist for Golden Owl Award

(St. Leon, Ind.) – An East Central Middle School teacher has been named a finalist for Indiana’s Golden Owl Award.

The award honors the contributions of agricultural educators that serve a critical role in their communities and prepare students for successful careers and help them pursue their passions.  

The Indiana FFA revealed eight finalists on Sunday, including East Central Middle School ag teacher McCord Snider.

The other finalists are: 

  • Mike Appleton, Lewis Cass High School
  • Myia Bromm, South Knox High School
  • Leah Henderson, DeKalb High School
  • Duane Huge, Danville High School
  • Mike A. Jones, Adams Central High School
  • Adam Miller, Fountain Central High School
  • Mike Shirey, Heritage High School

Each finalist will receive an individualized plaque and $500. One finalists will be chosen as the grand prize winner, earning the 2022-23 Ag Educator of the Year title for Indiana, and the coveted Golden Eagle trophy and $3,000 to help fund future educational efforts.

Indiana’s Golden Owl winner will be announced at the 94th Indiana FFA State Convention at Purdue University in June.
