(Plainfield, Ind.) – The Duke Energy Foundation has awarded nine grants to programs that help Indiana communities grappling with mental health and substance abuse needs.
The nine grants total $255,000.
Locally, the Indiana Region 9 Workforce Board was awarded $35,000 for their Workforce Reintegration Program.
The grant funding will be used to help individuals impacted by substance misuse with reintegration into the workforce, providing them with opportunities for work-based training and placement in high-wage, in-demand occupations.
Indiana Region 9 Workforce Board covers 10 Indiana counties, including Dearborn, Franklin, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland.
“The Southeast Indiana Workforce Investment Board is grateful for the support of the Duke Energy Foundation. With this grant, we will assist individuals directly impacted by substance misuse with reintegration into the workforce, providing them opportunities for work-based training and placement in high-wage, in-demand occupations. Together we’ll work to keep our communities vibrant,” said Stephanie Perkins, director of substance abuse employment initiatives for the Region 9 Workforce Investment Board.
