The victim died at the hospital following the crash.

(Greendale, Ind.) - An Aurora man was killed in a crash on U.S. 50 in Greendale during the Friday morning commute.

Greendale Police say the driver of a 2016 Nissan Altima pulled out onto U.S. 50 from Greendale Plaza Drive when it was struck by a 2001 GMC van traveling west on U.S. 50 at about 8:22 a.m.

The only occupant of the Nissan was the driver, a 74-year-old man from Aurora. He was extricated, then rushed to Highpoint Health in Lawrenceburg. The victim was later transferred to University of Cincinnati Medical Center.

Officers say the man later died of his injuries at U.C. Medical Center. His name is being withheld pending notification of family.

There were three people in the GMC van driven by a 76-year-old man from Lawrenceburg. Each of them were taken to Highpoint Health where they were treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The wreck, cleanup, and subsequent investigation resulted in the highway being closed for about an hour Friday morning.

Greendale Police are continuing to investigate the crash.

Officers were assisted at the scene by Greendale Fire Department, Greendale Life Squad, Lawrenceburg Emergency Rescue Unit and Lawrenceburg Police Department.
