(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - A Lawrenceburg man is accused of using a flashlight to batter another man.

Charges against Corey R. Lambert, 39, were filed in Dearborn Circuit Court on January 13. Lambert is accused of Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury (Level 5 Felony) and Battery with a Deadly Weapon (Level 5 Felony).

The charges stem from an incident that allegedly took place on July 28.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Lawrenceburg Police responded to to a home on the 200 block of Water Street, where Lambert allegedly battered a man. Police say the victim had blood coming from his right eye brow.

While on the scene, police say they located a flashlight with a small amount of blood on it. However, no one at that time advised that the flashlight was used in the alleged battery.

A day later, a woman applied for a protective order at the courthouse and reported that Lambert hit and scratched her before attacking the male victim. The woman also reported that Lambert had used a flashlight to batter the man.

While waiting for DNA results to come back, the original battery charges on Lambert were dismissed. However, on December 30, police received a Certificate of Analysis from the Indiana State Police Laboratory for the DNA comparison and analysis with the flashlight. The analysis indicated that Lambert and the alleged victim were both contributors to the DNA profile.

Lambert was taken into custody on January 9 and remains jailed at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center.
