Two Aurora Men Accused Of Dealing In Meth

The alleged drug deals took place between November and December of 2017.

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - Two Aurora men are accused of dealing in methamphetamine. 

Robin R. Shinkle, 53, and Raymond J. Byers, 36, came under investigation in October 2017 when Dearborn County Special Crimes Unit officers were tipped off about their alleged involvement in illegal drug activity. 

According to a probable cause affidavit, the two men sold 31.4 grams of methamphetamine worth a total of $1,540 between November 7 and December 1. Police say the drug deals were made at various locations in Aurora, Greendale and Lawrenceburg. 

Shinkle and Byers were both arrested on April 16. Shinkle is charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 5 felony), three counts of Dealing in Methamphetamine At Least One Gram But Less Than Five Grams (Level 4 felony), two counts of Dealing in Methamphetamine At Least Five Grams But Less Than Ten Grams (Level 3 felony) and Corrupt Business Influence (Level 5 felony). 

Byers faces charges of Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 5 felony) and Dealing in Methamphetamine At Least One Gram But Less Than Five Grams (Level 4 felony). In addition, Byers had two active out-of-state, non-extraditable arrest warrants from the State of Oregon and the State of Washington for Possession of a Weapon and Violation of a Court Order/Controlled Substance Violation. 

Neither Shinkle or Byers are strangers to run-ins with the law. Their criminal histories range from Check Deception to Theft to Vehicular Assault.

Byers made his initial appearance in Dearborn County Circuit Court on April 17, where a judge ruled he be held in Dearborn County Jail on $150,000 surety bond and $50,000 cash bond.
