(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A generous grant has helped the Dillsboro Police Department purchase and implement car video systems and body cameras.

The Dearborn Community Foundation through the 2021 Phase 2 City of Lawrenceburg Community Grant Program awarded $10,000 to the Town of Dillsboro for the purchase of the car video systems and body cameras.

In addition, the Ross Foundation, Inc. contributed $3,000.

According to the Dillsboro Police Department, the cameras and storage system was implemented on March 30.

"The cameras are vital for the protection of the public by capturing evidence of crimes, holding accountable police officers for overreaches, and reducing false complaints against law enforcement," said Officer Kevin Turner. "As a small town, Dillsboro could not have completed this project without the help of the Dearborn Community Foundation and the Ross Foundation."
