(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A Dillsboro man has been accused of stalking from his jail cell.

Billy Gene Luke, 33, was convicted on Friday with three counts of Stalking (level 6 felony), Invasion of Privacy (class A misdemeanor) and Harassment (class B misdemeanor).

Dearborn County prosecutor Lynn Deddens said Luke, who was incarcerated for prior convictions from 2014 continued to stalk his victim from his cell at the Department of Corrections.

Luke allegedly sent the victim numerous letters, including multiple vulgar suggestions and threats he intended to act upon his release from jail.

"It is horrible that a victim continued to be stalked from the Department of Corrections. Luke's actions have terrorized this victim for the better part of seven years. I am glad that jurors saw the evidence and convicted Luke," stated Prosecutor Deddens.

Luke will be sentenced on August 15th in Dearborn Circuit Court.

Convictions on the level 6 felonies carry a maximum sentence of two and a half years.
