(Dearborn County, Ind.) - When he was arrested in Dearborn County, an Elizabethtown, Ohio man allegedly told police he had been dealing drugs across the tri-state.

A Dearborn County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle driven by Devin L. Burton, 24, on York Ridge Road on March 23. Deputies had been patrolling the area looking for Burton, who was wanted on a warrant and was considered armed and dangerous because of an alleged statement that he would “shoot it out” with police, according to a court affidavit.

During the stop, the deputy allegedly observed a loaded .380-caliber handgun on the passenger seat of Burton’s vehicle. A glass smoking device with white residue was found in Burton’s pocket.

They also discovered a lock box containing 1.6 grams of methamphetamine, multiple plastic baggies, a scale, and multiple pills. After waiving his right to speak with an attorney, Burton allegedly admitted to police he participated in drug transactions in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

“Burton stated he previously delivered approximately 3.5 grams of methamphetamine to a purchaser on York Ridge Road in Guilford, Indiana,” deputies stated in the affidavit.

Burton has been charged with Dealing in Methamphetamine (level 3 felony), Possession of Methamphetamine (level 6 felony), Maintaining a Common Nuisance (level 6 felony), Possession of a Controlled Substance (class A misdemeanor), Carrying a Handgun Without a License (class A misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (class C misdemeanor).

He is held in jail at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on a $75,000 surety bond and $1,500 cash bond.
