Dearborn Co. Man Facing Murder Charge After Death of His Wife

The incident took place late Monday morning near the Indiana/Ohio state line.

(Bright, Ind.) - A Dearborn County man accused of killing his wife has been taken into custody.

Mohammed Mondal, 45, of Lawrenceburg, contacted the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office around 11:49 a.m., stating that he had shot his wife.

According to a news release from the Sheriff’s office, Mondal was near the Indiana/Ohio state line and was traveling towards Indiana on U.S. 50 when multiple police units responded to the area and escorted the vehicle to St. Elizabeth Dearborn.

Hospital staff were unsuccessful in life saving measures and Stacy Mondal was pronounced deceased at the age of 40.

Based on the initial investigation, the shooting occurred inside the Mondal’s vehicle, which was occupied by two of their children.

Mohammed Mondal is facing one count of murder. Formal charges are expected to be filed tomorrow when the courthouse reopens (closed for Election Day).
