Dearborn Co. Anti-Litter Initiative Clean-ups Planned

(Dearborn County, Ind.) - The Dearborn County Anti-Litter Initiative (DCALI) is celebrating 10 years of roadside litter clean-ups conducted by volunteers.

This year, there are five roadside clean-ups scheduled between March 8 and September 13. 

  • Saturday, March 8: The 13th Annual Logan Clean-up organized by the Volpenhein family. 8 a.m.-12 noon. Whites Hill, North Dearborn Hill. Volunteers will meet at Logan Supermart at 8 a.m. Alternate date March 15 in case of bad weather.
  • Saturday, April 12: Sand Run, Indiana side, working in conjunction with volunteers on the Ohio portion. 8:30 a.m.-12 noon. More details to come.
  • Saturday, May 3: State Line Hill. 8:30 a.m.-12 noon. Volunteers meet at 8:30 at Sugar Ridge Golf Course parking lot for supplies and instructions.
  • Saturday, May 10: York Ridge Hill 8:30-12 noon. Volunteers meet at 8:30 at York Ridge Hunt Club, 5311 York Ridge Road, for supplies and instructions.
  • Saturday, Sept. 13: Georgetown Rd. from SR 1 to Fairway. 8:30 a.m.-12 noon.

On the dates listed above, there will be road closures during the clean-ups to ensure the safety of volunteers.

In 2024, DCALI had a record number of volunteers, and some clean-ups took less time than planned.

It’s also a volunteer opportunity for student community service. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.

DCALI thanks the Dearborn County Sheriff’s Office, Dearborn County Highway Department, Bright Fire Department and Miller-York Fire Department for their continued assistance for many years.
