DCH Again Denies Rumors Of St. Elizabeth Buyout

(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Dearborn County Hospital is again debunking persistent rumors that the hospital could be bought out by northern Kentucky-based Saint Elizabeth Hospital.

DCH Executive Director Pete Resnick told Dearborn County Commissioners Tuesday that the hospital is dedicated to remaining a strong, progressive, independent county hospital.

Commissioners agreed to join the DCH Board of Trustees and Resnick in signing their names to a letter supporting the hospital.

The letter was then distributed later Tuesday to local media, hospital employees, Auxiliary members, medical staff, and the general public.

“During the year, most physicians in Dearborn County have aligned with Dearborn County Hospital. Those that have become employed by another hospital continue to use our hospital as they have in the past (That is exactly what we were told by St. Elizabeth and those physicians when they became St. Elizabeth employees),” the letter states.

Rumors began circulating last year when some physicians in the county began working under Saint Elizabeth. Resnick – who retires May 12 – sent out a notice denying the rumors last May.

For any change in ownership at DCH, both the hospital’s owners – the hospital Board of Trustees and Dearborn County government - would have to agree.
