(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation (DCF), Inc. recently awarded a $1,000 proactive grant to Dearborn County Solid Waste Management for its Creation Station that provides reusable materials that educators can obtain for classrooms.

In a continuing effort to make an impact in the Dearborn County community, DCF is awarding 15 proactive grants of $1,000 each throughout 2021 to charitable organizations that serve Dearborn County residents. Each of the Foundation’s 15 volunteer board members is recommending a grant. The money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

Making the grant recommendation to support Creation Station was easy for DCF Board Chairperson Jim Stock, a retired educator.

"The Creation Station is a non-profit donation center used by classroom teachers or club leaders of non-profit organizations. As a past educator, I have seen the great work that volunteers do for the county," said Stock of New Alsace.

Open Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., Creation Station is the recycling center's non-profit reuse center that encourages diverting reusable materials from landfills, and instead provides educators with valuable materials. Since 2004, Creation Station has diverted more than 26,000 tons.

You can donate materials, receive materials, or make a donation by calling 812-926-9963, or email Julie at reuse@dearborncounty.in.gov. Stop by the recycling center at 10700 Prospect Lane, off U.S. 50 in Aurora.
