(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - The Dearborn Community Foundation recently awarded a $1,000 Proactive Grant that was “from the heart to the heart.”

The grant was recommended by Foundation Board Member Mike McLaughlin to the Heart House of Dearborn County as part of the Foundation’s annual program through which the organization’s 15 volunteer board members recommend a grant.

In its 26th year of helping donors make a difference, the money comes from the Foundation’s Unrestricted Endowment Funds, established by donors to provide flexibility to address changing needs in the community over the years.

“Heart House works hard to assist those in need in our community. I know the organization can use every bit of help they can get to provide these ongoing services,” said McLaughlin. “It just made sense to recommend this grant to an organization that does a good job helping others through tough times.”

The Heart House, Aurora, provides a 72-bed facility to help people in crisis. It also provides nutritious, consistent meals through the Free Store Food Bank.

Heart House provides personal redevelopment programs that assist and equip residents in developing life skills needed for successful independent living.

Anyone can contribute to an unrestricted DCF endowment to help make impact grants like the 15 DCF Board members are recommending in 2024.
