Kroger Set For $17 Million Expansion At Florence Distribution Facility

The Mount Zion Rd. facility was built less than a year ago.

(Florence, Ky.) – An online coupon promising a huge discount at Kroger is being called a scam, but job creation at the supermarket chain’s Boone County distribution center is as real as it gets.

Kroger officials announced Monday that their distribution center on Mount Zion Road in Florence will add 250 full-time associates as part of an $17 million expansion.

The expansion comes less than a year after the 674,000-square-foot facility was built as a replenishment center to service the company’s direct-to-store distribution centers across the eastern half of the U.S.

The distribution center currently employs about 80 associates.

Boone County Judge-Executive Gary Moore applauded Kroger's commitment to innovation, technology, and job growth.

"Kroger continues to find ways to innovate and improve the customer grocery experience. The Mt. Zion facility will be a hub for Kroger's ecommerce and digital innovations and we are very pleased that jobs created by this expansion will contribute to not only the livelihood our of region, but also the redefinition of the grocery industry."

The expansion will include the purchase of new equipment and upgrades to the facility’s current technology, in addition to creating majority full-time positions.

The distribution facility will start to expand its team in September, but candidates can apply now at jobs.Kroger.com.
