(Erlanger, Ky.) – CVG Airport’s first responders have been recognized for their heroics during a major snowstorm earlier this year.

In February, a medical flight was intended to land at Cincinnati’s Lunken Airport but was forced to divert to CVG due to winter weather. On the flight was a life saving organ and three surgeons who needed to be transported to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital within two hours of landing.

With just 55 minutes to spare, CVG Airport first responders successfully delivered the organ and transplant team safely during rush hour and a winter storm that ended up producing several inches of snow.

The trip took 65 minutes total.

In July, firefighter Jason Bauman accepted recognition from the American Association of Airport Executives “for valor and commitment to excellence in the field of aircraft fire fighting and rescue services.”

Responders included Chief Steve Listerman, Captain Jeff Goshorn, Firefighter Jason Baumann, Fire/Medic Greg Holian, Firefighter Casey Jones, Firefighter Michael Nienaber, Firefighter Zack Smith, Fire/Medic Sean Tilley

Coordination with Kenton County Dispatch and Cincinnati Police Department were also commended.
