(Erlanger, Ky.) – The longest and most utilized runway at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport is closed for a rehabilitation project.

Runway 9/27 was closed Monday as CVG is moving forward with critical infrastructure projects in 2021.

The rehab project will consist of new asphalt, concrete, and lighting updates. The work is expected to take one year to complete, requiring a six-month closure of Runway 9/27.

CVG said in a news release Monday that a project of this magnitude typically takes two years to complete.

The project is part of a $69 million investment made by CVG to improve their infrastructure.

“We are grateful for the support and patience of the community and all partners involved as this important infrastructure update is completed,” said Candace McGraw, chief executive officer, CVG. “This project among others will position CVG well for pandemic recovery and future growth.”
