(Versailles, Ind.) – A crowdfunding campaign to develop a music and entertainment space in Versailles has met its goal.

On May 9, Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority (IHCDA) launched the $50,000 crowdfunding campaign.

The campaign, led by Versailles Main Street, needed to raise $50,000 dollars by July 10 to receive a matching grant as part of the IHCDA’s CreatINg Places program.

As of June 17, the crowdfunding campaign has surpassed $51,000.

Funds from this campaign will be used to develop the Holdsworth Entertainment Pavilion to honor Gary and Patsy Holdsworth for their dedication as music directors at South Ripley Schools.

Plans are for the pavilion to be built on the Courthouse Square where two blighted properties once stood.

The pavilion will be a gathering space for live music, theater, movies and more.

Since the crowdfunding goal has been met, a new goal of $60,000 has been set. The additional funds will allow the purchase of percussive play instruments for the park, making music for generations to come.
