Criminal Charges Pending After Police Pursuit In Switzerland Co.

The car chase happened Thursday morning around 6:00 a.m.

(Switzerland County, Ind.) - A police pursuit took place Thursday morning in Switzerland County. 

Sheriff's deputies initiated a traffic stop near the intersection of Markland Pike and Stowtown Road around 6:00 a.m.

Before deputies could make contact with the driver, the vehicle fled down Stowtown Road through the intersection of State Road 56 and onto Elam Road. 

The driver eventually lost control of the vehicle and crashed while attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway.

Switzerland County Emergency Response transported the driver to Kings Daughter's Hospital in Madison for treatment of minor injuries. 

The name of the driver has not been released. 

Additional information will be released once criminal charges have been filed.
